This year, the production of legumes and cereals will decline. As farmers, what can we do about it? The alternative is to plant crops adapted to current climate change and the characteristics of our soils. These need little water to develop. A sample of these crops are the legumes themselves, as well as the different varieties of old cereals (spelt, Florence aurora and Khorasan).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The production of these more sustainable and resistant varieties in our area allows us to carry out a diversification of the agricultural framework based, mainly, on barley and wheat. The benefits of the change are obvious: nitrogen fixation in the soil and a different planting date that allows for improved weed control. In addition, these crops favor a large reservoir of auxiliary fauna that allows natural biological control.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We are clear, faced with the lack of water, more resilient crops.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The persistent drought that has been affecting our agriculture for a few years, continues.
